Fleece kits come in two sizes; we prefer the larger 72” x 60”. We often have kits available, or you can purchase your own kits or fleece.
You will need 2 yards of fleece for the front and 2 yards for the back (2 pieces–72” x 60”). These can be plain and/or patterned. Fabric designs and colors need to be age and gender appropriate, as well as correlate to the size of the quilt.
The kits have directions, but we suggest cutting the fringe to 5” (instead of the suggested 7”) to maximize the useable size of the blanket. Also, before tying, match the two pieces of fabric and cut off the selvage or ragged edges. An alternative method is to sew the 2 pieces wrong sides together about 6” in from the edge and then cut the fringe.
